An H/D isotopic substitution study of the [H.sub.5][O.sub.2.sup.+].Ar vibrational predissociation spectra: exploring the putative role of Fermi resonances in the bridging proton fundamentals
Article Abstract:
The nature of the motions of multiplet structures of the [H.sub.5][O.sub.2.sup.+] eZundelE ion is analyzed by studying the evolution of its vibrational fingerprint with sequential H/D isotopic substitution in a predissociation study of the Ar complexes. The studies have shown that the Fermi interaction and the internal bending motions are sensitive to the mass of the hydrogen isotopes at various sites

Diffusion in channeled structures. II. Systems with larger energy barriers
Article Abstract:
Methods are developed to calculate the permeability of argon in alpha-quartz, a system containing large energy barriers. The energy-transfer between alpha-quartz and the argon atom through lattice vibrations occurs on a fast enough time scale such that it plays a role in the guest diffusive motion.
